Swedish Massage

This most common technique is designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation with five basic strokes. All strokes flow toward the heart and are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. A combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements are used along with an oil or cream to reduce the friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improvement of circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury

 

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep muscle massages are used to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. Muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep-tissue massage, otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature which can make the session somewhat painful. It helps with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis.

 

Thai Level 1 Massage​

Thai massage involves peripheral stimulating, meaning it acts as an external stimulant to produce specific internal effects.  Thai massage uses sen energy lines and body movements similar to stretching to release enery blockages and tension in the body. Thai massage is practiced on a firm mat on the floor instead of on a table, with the effective use of the practitioners body weight. Except for the feet, the client remains fully clothed, so draping is not necessary.

 

Basic Foot Reflexology

Based on an ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the foot that correspond to other parts of the body. This bodywork involves application of pressure to reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the bodys energy flow to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance in physical function. This technique is used to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. It is especially useful in stress-related illness and emotional disorders. Reflexology is also convenient in cases where an area of the body is traumatized or diseased to the extent that direct manipulation is contraindicated.

 

Sports Massage & Stretching​

Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment. Pre-event massage is fast-paced and stimulating, it helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles. Post-event massages intent is to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow. When an athlete sustains an injury, skillful massage therapy can often speed and improve the quality of healing.

 

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage uses soothing oils, warm basalt stones and sometimes cold marble stones to relax your muscles, allowing for a deeper and more intense all-over massage. In hot stone therapy, your therapist applies smooth, water-heated basalt stones to key points on your body. This direct heat relaxes your muscles, which means that the massage itself is more effective and intense than it would be otherwise. The size of the stones varies, according to which part of the body your therapist is treating.

 

Chakra Connections

A chakra connection is a balancing technique that faciliates movement of energy from chakra to chakra throughout the entire body. It connects all the major and some minor centers, and opens them to flow freely. (Also available for energy work is a Spiral Meditation, Magnetic Unruffle, Pain Drain, Sealing a Wound and Chakra Spread.)

 

Indian Head Massage

This  is a traditional Indian technique of treating the upper back, neck, shoulders, face and scalp, with the recipient remaining clothed. The techniques were originally developed by women who used oils, such as sesame, coconut and mustard oil to help keep the hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition. In India, a head massage is traditionally performed as part of the treatment given by barbers and massage therapist. In Western Society, Indian Head Massage has been adopted to treat symptoms of stress and fatigue in the workplace. This form of treatment can be carried out on clients, fully clothed at their place of work in an office environment in a seated position.

 

 

Abdominal/Low Back

Massaging the abdominal promotes digestion, alleciates gastric upsets, soothes the nerves related to the area of massage. It benefits the organs that are interconnected with the stomach as well as the intestinal tract, not to mention within our core. A combination of  abdominal work being done with lower back and hip work as well as releasing the diaphram and side (rib) work with help tremendously with sciatic nerve pain and any abdominal issues.

 

Jin Shin   The High Touch Network

 

"Overview of Jin Shin

 

Jin Shin is an ancient method of looking after our body (entire body including that which we cannot see).  The High Touch Network supports the study and practice of this ancient knowledge in new ways for our modern times. Betsy Dayton, the founder of the High Touch Network, had put this system into a series of books so it is easy to learn and use.

Our true 'bodies' are larger than the body we can actually see. An electrical system or force permeates this 'etheric body' as well as our physical body. It is the force that gives and sustains life. Our 'life-force'. Jin Shin works with this.

The core of the systme works with three main circuits. When we release these circuits-- you can do this on yourself, for yourself-- we allow the electricity to travel in its optimum way. Doing this regularly allows the body to be in an  harmounious and balanced condition more frequently.  When the body is in this condition it is able to heal itself. Using this power over a period of time, many problems will right themselves as the body spend more and more time in this optimum state and is free to rebalance in its own way. Thi body's own wisdom here is phenomenal. TheThe points on the body that wehold are recognized places that we seen to have circuit breakers (fuses). These were identified thousands of years ago. The flows of Jin Shin workby 'jump starting'these fuese, We use two hands just like a postive and negative jump lead to re-start the batter of a car. Therefore, we kick start the body's own system into action. How quickly we noticethe chanfes often depend on the level of congestion-- although sometimes remarkable shifts occur very swiftly.

Therapist such as Acupuncture and Shiatsu come from Jin Shin. They are specializations if you like. Jin Shin works with the same meridian system--though in a simpler manner, making this accessible to everyone and using simple holds to clear the meridians or pathways. Anyone can utilize these simple holds to deal with everyday problems such as headaches etc. on a symptomatic level. Also you may utilize the longer flows to work with the core of your being.

Overlaid on this meridain systme is the number system. No other physical therapy i know of has anything like thi. This number system relates directly to our core. It also relates to mathematics. Ir relates to the Qabbalah, to numerology. This system totally reflects our body as part of the unicerse. We can access ourselvesthrough the number flows.

If we want to, when we look at the meaning of the numbers we can befin to learn about our own patterns--physical, mental emotional and spititual. They are reflected in our bodies. We can begin to 'know ourselves'.  This is a fasinating and revealing process and is why Jin Shin had been termed 'the art of happiness'. Through this we learn to accept ourselves and have a greater understanding of our being.

 So this beautiful tool, Jin Shin, we may use to alleviate symptoms, achieve a greater degree of health or as part of our journey through life, to acheive greater awareness and understanding of ourselves."

 

"The Jin Shin Treatment

 

Jin Shin is an holistic therapy in that it truly heals at levels of body, mind and spirit.

Jin Shin is a treatment whcih can be done on oneself, or for another. It is a treatment that balances the human energies to promote health and well being and has great benefits from the point of prevention, maintenance and remedial care.

The clientt will lie on a table, face up and fully clothed. The therapist uses light touch on the client's body over particular points along enery pathways. Jin Shin works through clothing, blankets, boots and even casts.

Two particular points are held simultaneously until the tension or congestion is realeased signaled by the synchronous pulsation felt at the points, then one of the hands is moved on to another pointand another etc. until a particular 'flow' has been completed.

Each point can take seconds to minutes to release and re-energize. Treatments generally take 45 minutes to an hour, with a short period for rest and teaching self help techniques. The client is encouraged to carry out these self-help techniques regularly on themselves to aid with stress reduction and move towards their potimal state of health.

 Repeated treatments depend on the indicidual and the particular situation. You can have treatments for specific health issues, as a preventative 'tune up' or just to have a nurturing, relaxing hour. After seeral treatments, a person really feel the difference and has a sense of balance and vitailty, so they are better able to distinguish when they are out of balance.

What Can You Expect?

 

Jin Shin is a pleasurable experience. As mentioned above, you remain fully clothed, lie on a massage table and the therapist uses thier hands over points on your body. The general experience is one of deep relaxation.  After treatment symptoms may or may not be relieved. They often are, but it can also take 8-24 hours to notice changes as this therapy initiates the flow of energy. Afterwards the energy cycles for another 24 hours clearning blockages, releasing rension and rebalancing. People may feel  relaxed or invigorated depending on the individual and that particular time. "
